Avery Dennison RBIS was delighted to partner with world-renowned fashion designer Vivienne Tam to showcase external embellishments throughout her latest collection, including high-definition heat transfers and woven badges, which debuted during New York Fashion Week, September 8-15.

Born in Guangzhou, China, Tam’s family moved to Hong Kong when she was three years old, and it was there that she attended Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Now a longtime resident of New York City, her eponymous brand is heavily influenced by her rich Chinese culture, East/West fusion, and the modern fashion scenes of NYC.

Vivienne Tam contacted Avery Dennison RBIS  to discuss her upcoming collection after visiting our Customer Design and Innovation Center (CDIC) in New York City. She wanted to see firsthand our creative collaborations with other halo brand partners. The result: an inspired design concept.

"Visiting RBIS' Customer Design and Information Center was a valuable experience for developing this collection," said Vivienne. "The team's flexibility throughout the design process was key to a successful collaboration, as they were able to meet our wants and needs."

The high-energy September 12 show put a spotlight our products, which integrated nicely into the SS17 collection, was inspired by the vibrant diversity and energy of Houston, Texas, a multicultural cornucopia, according to Vivienne Tam’s show notes.

Our heat transfer external embellishment products applied to the garments sported iconic Houston entities.

“We are very excited for the opportunity to work with Vivienne Tam and are proud to be the sole-nominated supplier for all the trims for her new denim product line. Our team worked with the brand in designing patches for SS17, which people saw during the show. We look forward to further expanding the collaboration,” said Ally Feng, general manager, Avery Dennison RBIS China.

To recognize our collaboration, Vivienne Tam used RBIS’ industry-leading heat transfer technology to create an exclusive gift for celebrities, press and VIPs in the front row of her show.

“It’s been a great opportunity to work with Vivienne Tam and her team,” said Nikita Jayasuriya, global head of Halo Brands and Special Products, at Avery Dennison RBIS. “This has truly been a global collaboration, as we had the chance to work with the brand across the globe from NYC to London to Hong Kong and mainland China.”

Avery Dennison RBIS prides itself on supporting new and emerging designers, as well as some of the more established brands and retailers around the world. Producing badges for Vivienne Tam and being behind-the-scenes at her New York show was incredibly rewarding.
