Mimi Wade wins Avery Dennison RBIS Emerging Brand Award at WGSN Futures

Avery Dennison RBIS is proud to congratulate British-American designer Mimi Wade on winning the Emerging Brand Award during the WGSN Fashion Futures Awards at the prestigious 8 Northumberland Avenue venue in London.

Known as the “the London It-Girl,” Mimi is a young designer based in London. Debuting at London Fashion Week with her autumn/winter 2016 collection, the 24-year-old is known for her edgy, yet coolly appropriate style and intricate hand-painted prints, resembling free floating panels from a comic book. Her motto: ‘wearable couture with a low-key sense of humor.’

At the event, we caught up with Mimi to find out how it feels to be the 2016 award winner and discover what’s next for the brand. “Avery Dennison is renowned for labels, packaging and weaving, and because of the graphic nature of my clothes, it’s going to be a really good partnership,” said Mimi. “We’re going to be doing some cool things together.”

Beyond recognition of new talent, the award offers Mimi a two- year collaboration with Avery Dennison, providing support across branding, design, manufacturing and innovation to help her take the brand to the next level.

This is the third time Avery Dennison has supported WGSN on the event. Previous winners include Marques'Almeida and Emma J Shipley. “We were impressed with all of this year’s finalists,” said Hannah White, senior manager, Marketing and Communications for RBIS and 2016 WGSN Futures Award judge. “Mimi’s designs and overall brand aesthetic definitely stood out and we are looking forward to working with Mimi over the next two years to further the success of the brand.”
