Cars are a blank slate when it comes to creating a distinctive wrap. With digitally printable films and dozens of colors and finishes ranging from chrome to matte to satin and gloss available from Avery Dennison, there are endless opportunities to make a statement. So what were the trends across North America in 2015? We took the opportunity to look through this year’s Wrap Like a King Challenge entries and projects submitted to us by installers and came up with this list of 2015 car wrap trends.

Rust:

From the 2015 Wrap Like a King Challenge, the North America South regional winner was the Chrome “Rust Bucket” Caddy. This distressed rust effect was created by MetroWrapz on a 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV with Avery Dennison Supreme WrappingTM Film Matte Black and Gloss Black and Avery Dennison Conform Chrome Silver with DOL 1080 matte overlaminate.

Embossing:

In this Wrap Like a King Challenge entry, BlackBoxRicter CarWrapping embossed emblems and logos on their car wrap using Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film Matte Dark Grey.

TRON:

Two wraps are better than one! Signature Graphics (@Scott18usa), an Avery Dennison certified installer, wrapped this Lamborghini Gallardo and Mercedes C63 AMG, in a Troninspired theme using Avery Dennison Conform Chrome Black with matte overlaminate and Supreme Wrapping Film accents.

Galaxy:

Galaxy Wraps were another big trend this year! The wraps representing outer space are similar to this one printed on Avery Dennison MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply RSTM by ECDcustoms for a unique and creative design.

Matching Helmet to Wrap:

This particular helmet was for Super Late Model racer, Chris Scribner, and the designer and installers at Racer Bling Graphics wanted to step outside the box with the helmet’s graphics.

The conformability of Avery Dennison MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply RSTM and DOL 1460 gloss overlaminate allowed them to create a rebeltribal design with an easy installation process. The helmet debuted at the 2015 Winter Showdown, one of the largest races on the West Coast, at Kern County Raceway in Bakersfield, California.

Matching Racecar and Truck Wraps (or Snowmobile and Truck):

This year, Gatorwraps used Avery Dennison Conform Chrome to wrap a 2014 Chevy Silverado to match the companyowned boat and side by side utility vehicle for a Gatorwraps fleet!

Knifeless Tape:

At the 2015 SEMA Show, TaTe Design used a combination of Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film and Knifeless Tech Systems to create the perfect crownthemed design combination.

Chrome:

This year’s Wrap Like a King Challenge also featured many printed chrome and overlay entries such as this wrap entered by Spade Kreations. The SpadeMade Ram, a 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab, was wrapped in Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film Matte Black and Avery Dennison Conform Chrome Gold with DOL 1080 matte overlaminate.

Sticker City has built a “Chromefolio” using Avery Dennison® Conform Chrome film for many wrap projects leveraging the Easy Apply RSTM technology and superior chrome finish.

There were some amazing new car wrap trends in 2015, and we are excited to see what the creative minds of the wrap world will develop and share with us in 2016. Remember, we are always looking for new Avery Dennison wrap projects and you can share them with us at any time by submitting this form!
