Project Hope

On May 29, the Avery Dennison Foundation and Avery Dennison China hosted the opening ceremony of the Shangyu Hope Primary School made possible by a Foundation grant to the China Youth Development Foundation (Shandong Province), with cooperation from the township government in Mengyin County.

A true team effort, the school was chosen by local Avery Dennison employees, funded by the Avery Dennison Foundation and supported with new books school supplies by individual employees throughout North China.

This rebuilt school serves 150 children, with the hopes of increasing the number of students over the next five years by attracting additional resources, teachers and technology. With a rebuilt school and renewed energy, the township hopes more local children will attend school closer to their families.

This celebratory school opening coincides with the 20th anniversary of Avery Dennison China, and our employees shared that they are happy to support with the growth and education of these school children.

As I reflect on a wonderful day, I am reminded how important access to a quality education is for students around the world. Rebuilding this rural school represents a meaningful contribution that our company and employees make in China and I am humbled to be part of it.
